Modelsim/VHDL: I want integer Range > 32 bits
      #7150 - 06/03/10 10:32 AM (24.0.98.122)

Using Modelsim 6.6a in Windows 7, I am trying to declare an integer range that exceeds 32 bits, because I am trying to behaviorally emulate 33-bit arithmetic.

Modelsim tells me "Integer value exceeds INTEGER'high" for my declaration "integer range -8589934592 to 8589934591;"

I am guessing that ModelSim is staying within some 32-bit restriction, because if I specify numbers less than the "2**32" equivalent, it is happy.

Can anyone tell me how to tell ModelSim to expand the range of integers beyond 32 bits?

Thank you.

Mentor has informed me that this is a limitation of the VHDL LRM.
